Hull Shape

The Learn to Windsurf / Learn to Race dimensions were the "box" we started with & from that we designed the fastest shape possible, that is easy to use.

The Glide shape is a culmination of shapes we tested from many successful race board & slalom hull shapes over many years. We made many prototypes & tested them against the best similar concept boards we could find. The result is the Glide.

A common comment is "it looks just like a ......" or "it can't be as fast as a....." Until you know some one who has tested it or tested it your self & understood why & how it works you, wont be well qualified to make judgement. We invite you to go for a sail & see for your self.

• Length 2990cm – suitable for sailing up wind on fin, controlled jumping & air line transport
• Width 85 cm – narrow enough for early railing but wide enough for early plaining & sailing up wind on fin .
• Thickness 18 cm – to be easy for sailing on the rail & lift the foot straps & feet out of the water & reducing drag. Also good for heavy sailors.
• Plan shape maximising parallel rails for better up wind performance & top end speed.
• Wide deck at tail to give leverage against fin, which is good for up wind sailing on fin.
• Cut outs at tail to reduce wetted surface & drag for higher top speeds & give better control & easier to gybe.
• Tapered tail plan shape, to help gybing & up wind performance on dagger board or fin.
• Minimal nose rocker for better rough water control and smoother transition to plaining with gradual change to a straight vee exit in the tail for better top end speed & control.
• Sharp Box rails from front of mast track to tail.
These help with pointing high & directional stability when sailing up wind on the fin or dagger board & reduces reliance on the fin for pointing high when sailing up wind.
• Soft rails forwards reduce drag, help with control & wave piercing.
• Straight Vee with reducing concaves.
Vee for smooth ride when sailing flat and easier to sail on heel and generate lift from foils & concaves. Parallel vee to give a faster top end speed, better rough water control & prevents the nose from flying up.
Concaves deeper forwards & flattening towards the back, generate lift, promote early plaining & improve top end speed.
• Slight dome deck to add stiffness.
• Hole at front for fixing electronics, handle for learn to windsurf schools & transport.

Board - Technology

Utilizing Concrete base, heated vacuum molds, all Glide boards are produced to the highest tolerances possible. It is our aim to eliminate the performance variability often seen with present one-design classes.  

The construction consists of a single monocoque unit comprising the Mast track and dagger board housing and fin box insert molded in high-density foam, which means the all parts, are in alignment. This is all then molded with a one-shot process with the main laminates of PVC and glass sandwich and a full carbon wrap top and bottom.

The result is an incredibly stiff structure with shape and alignment integrity throughout.

Glide has developed 2 improved mast track systems that solve many of the down sides of existing systems. Our alloy extrusion has a reduced opening to reduce the risk of toes getting inside & being injured. The extrusion is also thicker to increase longevity & reduce the risk of sharp edges.

Is a screw tight fixed position system for windsurf schools which still allows fast easy rig removal for a flat deck for storage and low budget uncomplicated sailing.

Its long track allows for a large range of rig sizes.

The system can be operated by the back pedal or the dagger board head.


The pedal system can be adjusted to lay flat on the deck for hull-to-hull storage when in the board bag.

The mast track car features a twist and lock mast base system. An additional threaded insert allows the use of the std US box Base systems.

Permanent anodized index markings allows the user to easily see the mast base position while sailing.

Features - Dagger Board Lip System.

Possibly the best ever Dagger Board lip system designed.

The unit consists of two duel density extrusions of a rubberized tube & hard plastic housing.

It is screwed to the precision housing without the need for glue, which guarantees the system will not fall off and is fast & easy and inexpensive to replace if ever required. The rubberized lips are a tube, which creates stiffness against water pressure creating a smooth planning surfaced, but due to the small volume & shape, ensure easy operation of the dagger board up & down.

A slide on screw cover leaves a flush surface.  

The unit is completed with screw on assembly caps front & back ensuring the system is flush with the bottom of the board.

As the Glide board has been designed to be suitable from beginner to advanced level windsurfers, three dagger board systems have been developed. All use a pivot point system that is extremely reliable, easy & fast to remove without stripping plastic threads.

The Learn to windsurf Dagger Board is an Automatic system that retracts automatically if contact is made with solid objects & then can be fully down or up the rest of the time. The system dose not require any thing above the deck, so it easy to store boards one on top of another without removing the dagger board.

The Learn To Race Dagger Board is a Flex Tip design with a length of 76cm. The foil thickness, flex and length make it very easy and reliable to operate and has optimal performance for the Youth Development Class with the 7.8 square meter rig.

This high performance dagger board creates an opportunity to tune the rake of the dagger board according to the power requirements.

The Full Race Dagger Board is an extension of the Learn to Race Dagger Board but made in a lighter weight Carbon construction with 86cm length. The flex tip with a longer blade creates a powerful foil, which increases lift earlier for the heavier sailors & is designed for the Regatta 8.5 sail & above. The rake tuning function is also an option with this Dagger Board.

Some of the problems with race dagger boards are deployment or the potential for injury. Glide has completely solved this problem with a blade flush with the deck and its unique Stomp Pad system.


This wide platform allows easy deployment of the Dagger Board so the thickest part of the blade is past the Gasket lips without possible foot injury. The system is complete with a cover.

The Glide board is complete with an innovation to eliminate the headache of fin screw alignment. The twin brass tubes are assembled to the fin and inserted into the fin box. The tops of the tubes become easily visible for the shorter securing screws to be assembled close to the surface of the deck.

Learn to windsurf fin is 30 cm long & molded fiberglass for durability & low cost.

This helps with shallow water launching & is easy to steer the board.

The Learn to Race fin is 55 cm long & intended for the 5.9 & 7.8 m2 rigs & can work well on 8.5 rig in high winds.

It is a high performance shape & is carbon & fiber glass.

The high performance race fin is full carbon intended for the 8.5 rig & has not yet been finalized. It is between 55 to 62 cm long.
